Only Learn this from your role Models and Mentors

In any sphere of life anybody wants to break into, there are always role models and mentors to emulate and learn from; need for and how to search for one is innate. A child would crawl to pick things himself as it sees others do, would want to walk to be like the rest around him, and talk as he sees them do. A child born of a deaf mother is ensure to be raised in a community of people who can speak, for him/her to be able to speak - everybody needs a role model and mentor - lad and lass are not exempted.
''What would you like to study?'' I asked a boy attending JAMB tutorial. ''Food technology'' he replied. I was surprised, but been aware of what makes a lot of students choose the course they are studying, I asked ''You have someone who is studying/studied the course?'' He replied affirmative. ''The person is like a mentor and role model to you?'' He nodded in agreement.
Eveybody needs a role model and mentor as a guiding map to the unknown destination (future), but a lot has lost their sense of purpose in their course of emulating their role models and mentors. The reason is simple: instead of using the map, they strive to evolve to be as the map and I believe no sensible geographer would do such. Role models and mentors are maps to plan your itinerary, why the ning-nong idiosyncracy of striving to be like them.
Models and Mentors are to be learned from and not to be treated as god but must be respected.  Some people are influenced by public figures, wishing to be like them when there real talent and passion does not belong to the model's field. There are many artistes out there who does not belong to the music industry, but because they like the celebrity artistes and the social media attentions they get, they make them their mentor and role model, and the funnier part is they would discover a talent which is not there and start singing noise instead of music; if you know any, please tell him to retire singing and search for his true calling (remind him google cannot be of help here #smile). People like this are foumd in many endeavor of life, even some doctors are not meant to be a doctor, the reason of their frustration and whining that there is no money in Medicine - people pay you for what you are good at and not what you will like to be good at. Don’t choose or base your passion on model you will like to be like even though his/her role is your dream.
Role model can build and break you. When faced with a challenge, it is very possible to do the same thing your role model did when he was in the same situation - which might be a stupid thing to do. Choose the building part of your role model and mentor and learn from what breaks them instead of exhibiting their life play from prologue to epilogue. Some people dress like their role model even though their role model's style of dressing is lunatic. Treat yourself to this poem I composed
MY ROLE MODEL
I needing a manual to live my dear life
Comb the world to find a model to live as,
Two great one I found,
The animal and the plant,
Being to choose one,
Am at sea.
The plant waits to fight its challenges,
The animal running away in search of a better option,
Quandary indeed I told myself,
This two I wish to imitate,
But one I am to follow,
I can’t forgone one for the other.
Decided to learn the better of each,
And forgone their weaknesses,
I have no role model,
But models I learn from.
Learn from your models and dont make them an exemplar! You can only become the second version of another person; only you can be the best and original version of yourself.
